About Columbia Titling
Columbia Titling was originally developed for the non-profit SS Columbia Project, owner and steward of the historic SS Columbia, a 1902-built former Detroit River steamboat that they plan to restore and operate as a Hudson River cruise vessel in New York City and the Hudson River Valley — using the boat’s original steam engine.
As was the case with the “Gibbs” typeface, Columbia Titling was intended for the group to use in marketing materials and other branded collateral, and was inspired by signage found on board the ship starting in the 1930s.
Columbia Titling has since been spotted on various storefronts, restaurant menus, and pocket calendars. Columbia Titling was awarded the Type Directors Club Certificate for Typographic Excellence in 2014.
